Part of Maestro Hospitality, Vineria Luisa is a Chef-Hatted Italian restaurant built around genuine hospitality, great wine and simple, honest food executed exceptionally well.

We are seeking an experienced Section Waiter / Sommelier to join our front-of-house team.
We have casual, part time and full time positions available.
This is an opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who is equally comfortable managing a busy restaurant section, providing polished table service and confidently guiding guests through wine selections and food and wine pairings.
About the Role
Working closely with the Restaurant Manager and front-of-house team, you will be responsible for delivering professional and knowledgeable restaurant and wine service while creating the warm, personable hospitality for which Vineria Luisa is known.
You will independently manage a designated section while also contributing your wine knowledge across the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities

Independently manage a designated restaurant section throughout lunch and dinner service
- Provide professional, attentive and knowledgeable food and beverage service
- Welcome guests, build rapport and contribute to a memorable dining experience
- Explain menu items, ingredients, preparation methods and daily specials
- Provide knowledgeable wine recommendations and food and wine pairing advice
- Assist guests in navigating the wine list and selecting wines suited to their preferences and dining experience
- Present, open, decant and serve wine in accordance with professional wine service standards
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the restaurant's wine list, beverage offering and food menu
- Accurately take and process food and beverage orders using the venue's POS system
- Identify and communicate allergies and dietary requirements accurately with the kitchen and management team
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout service and respond appropriately to requests or concerns
- Maintain appropriate glassware, wine service equipment and beverage stations
- Assist with wine storage, stock rotation, cellar organisation and inventory procedures
- Prepare and maintain your section before, during and following service
- Ensure bills are accurate and professionally presented and process payments as required
- Work collaboratively with restaurant management, sommeliers, section waiters and the broader front-of-house and kitchen teams
- Comply with NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements, food safety requirements and company policies
- Contribute to achieving restaurant sales, beverage sales and guest satisfaction objectives
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:

A relevant hospitality qualification, such as an AQF Certificate III in Hospitality (Restaurant Front of House), Diploma of Hospitality Management, or equivalent
- A minimum of 1–3 years' relevant experience in a Section Waiter, Sommelier, Wine Waiter or similar front-of-house position
- Full working rights in Australia
- Demonstrated experience managing your own section in a premium restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of wine service and food and wine pairing
- Experience confidently recommending and selling wines and other beverages
- Strong knowledge of restaurant service procedures and sequence of service
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- A current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
- Experience using restaurant POS systems
- Strong attention to detail and professional presentation
- The ability to remain composed and organised in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build genuine rapport with guests
- Availability to work across a seven-day restaurant roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
Highly Regarded

WSET Level 2 or higher, or another recognised wine qualification
- Previous experience within Chef-Hatted, premium or fine-dining restaurants
- Strong knowledge of Italian wine regions, grape varieties and producers
- Knowledge of regional Italian cuisine
- Experience using SevenRooms or similar restaurant reservation platforms
- Italian language skills
