About the role
The Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner is seeking a Policy & Project Officer to support the Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) and Planning Policy team.
In this role, primarily you’ll be supporting councils to establish SEPs in their local areas and supporting the development of night-time economy planning-related policy initiatives. The role brings together policy, research, stakeholder engagement and project management skills to help create thriving and well-coordinated nighttime precincts. You’ll work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including councils, businesses, cultural organisations and other NSW Government agencies, providing practical policy advice and supporting initiatives that make a difference to communities.
What you’ll do
- Support the Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) and Planning team which supports councils to establish SEPs in their local areas and provides night-time economy planning-related advice to government.
- Research and analyse planning-related policy issues, options and data to support evidence-based decision making.
- Develop clear policy advice, briefs, discussion papers and submissions for a range of audiences.
- Support policy development and implementation from research through to delivery and evaluation.
- Build strong relationships with councils, businesses, cultural organisations and other NSW Government agencies.
- Coordinate working groups, committees and stakeholder consultations.
- Monitor emerging and contentious issues and provide advice on their potential impacts.
- Support reporting, monitoring and evaluation to measure policy outcomes and inform future initiatives.

About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in planning and/or local government.
- Strong research, analytical and written communication skills.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- The ability to translate complex information into clear, practical advice.
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
