Bhinder Transport is a transport and logistics business based in Coffs Harbour, NSW, providing reliable and efficient transport services to customers across the region.
As our business continues to operate and develop, we are seeking a Transport Company Manager to join our team and take responsibility for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the business.
We are looking for a suitable candidate who has strong transport industry knowledge, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate people, vehicles, customers and operational requirements.
This is an important position within the business, with the successful candidate expected to contribute to the safe, efficient and effective operation of our transport services.
About the Position
The Transport Company Manager will be responsible for organising and controlling the operations of the transport business, including coordinating vehicles and drivers, planning transport schedules, managing operational requirements, maintaining customer relationships and monitoring the performance of transport activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with company management, drivers, customers and suppliers to ensure transport services are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with relevant requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day transport operations of the business.
- Organise and coordinate transport schedules and delivery requirements.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to transport activities.
- Monitor the efficient utilisation of vehicles, equipment and staff.
- Coordinate the collection and delivery of goods.
- Communicate with customers regarding transport requirements, schedules and service arrangements.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Supervise and coordinate drivers and other operational staff.
- Assist with staff recruitment, training and performance management where required.
- Organise vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair requirements.
- Monitor vehicle availability and operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate records relating to transport operations, vehicles, drivers and maintenance.
- Ensure transport activities are conducted in accordance with relevant workplace health and safety and transport requirements.
- Monitor operational issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve operational or service-related concerns.
- Monitor operating costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Prepare operational reports and provide relevant information to company management.
- Assist with operational planning and business development activities.
- Monitor the overall performance of transport operations and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in transport management, transport operations or a similar senior transport role.
- Good knowledge of transport and freight operations.
- Experience coordinating drivers, vehicles and transport schedules.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance and transport operational requirements.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare operational reports.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day operations.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational issues.
Relevant qualifications or experience in transport management, business management, logistics or a related field will be highly regarded.
