Looking to build a career in rail maintenance?
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Maintenance Trade Assistant to join our Rail Maintenance team in Altona, VIC! Working alongside qualified Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, you will support the maintenance, servicing and upkeep of locomotive rolling stock to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified tradespeople with rolling stock maintenance activities.
- Perform cleaning, inspections, lubrication and general workshop tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and complete job documentation as required.
- Identify and report faults, defects, hazards and improvement opportunities.
- Support safe work practices and ensure PPE is worn and maintained correctly.
- Provide clear handovers and communicate effectively with team members.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement initiatives
This role is on a Monday - Friday rotating roster with 2 weeks on day shift, 1 week on afternoon shift. Overtime available on weekends at the discretion of the company.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Ability to pass a CAT 2 Rail Medical
- Previous experience in a maintenance, workshop, trade assistant, heavy vehicle, rail or industrial environment is desirable.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Forklift Licence, Rail Safety Awareness or First Aid qualifications are advantageous.
