.ABOUT THE DIVISION AND BRANCH
Commercial Investments Division (CID) oversees the Commonwealth’s shareholdings in its 10 Government Business Enterprises, 8 Specialist direct Investment Vehicles (SIVs) and the Future Fund and provides policy and commercial advice in relation to significant investments by the Commonwealth and board appointments.
The SIVs, Funds and Governance Branch is responsible for providing advice on policy, legislative and governance matters relating to Australian Government Investment Funds and SIVs, including advice on board and CEO appointments and investment mandates.
SIVs provide finance (loans, equity investments and guarantees) or make grants to investments that advance policy objectives. SIVs are governed by independent boards and crowd-in private capital. With over $90 billion in Commonwealth capital, their role in shaping Australia’s economic landscape is expanding rapidly. SIVs are at the intersection between public finance and policy and are a critical part of the Government’s economic agenda. The SIVs Governance team plays a central role in SIVs corporate oversight. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Prepare commercial analysis across a range of areas including financial, legal, performance measurement, risk and board appointments.

Lead streams of work and focus resourcing strategically in relation to specific SIVs.

Draft high quality and timely briefing material for the Minister for Finance and Secretary by to support oversight of governance arrangements, reporting, and financial and commercial matters.

Work closely and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including other Government departments, central agencies, and SIVs.

Work with portfolio agencies to facilitate amendments to SIV enabling legislation and investment mandates (or equivalent) under the joint ministerial oversight model.

Develop documentation and processes to manage governance tasks across the SIV portfolio.

Manage and empower junior staff to build team culture, support development and to ensure the effective delivery of team outputs.
