About the role
As an Intake Clinician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring people receive timely access to the mental health care they need. You'll coordinate and manage referrals into, within and out of the service, using your clinical expertise and sound judgement to determine the most appropriate care pathway for each consumer.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide clinical leadership throughout the intake process, ensuring consumers are connected to specialist mental health services or referred to the most appropriate supports to meet their needs.
From commencement, you'll receive a comprehensive orientation from the Team Leader and ongoing support from the ACT/Intake Team Leader, Clinical Coordinators and Service Manager. Your professional development will be encouraged through regular clinical supervision, in-service education, and access to a range of online and face-to-face training opportunities.
Where you'll be working
You'll join the Hunter Valley Lower Mid North Coast Mental Health Service, a multidisciplinary team providing specialist outpatient mental health care across the Hunter Valley and Lower Mid North Coast regions.
The service delivers consultation, assessment, treatment and follow-up for adults and their families, with a strong focus on recovery-oriented care. Services include hospital-to-home transition support, medication monitoring, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, brief interventions, care coordination, and rehabilitation and recovery-focused group programs. You'll be part of a collaborative team committed to delivering person-centred care and achieving positive outcomes for consumers.
About you
You are a motivated and compassionate mental health clinician who enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. You have excellent clinical assessment skills, can confidently make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment, and build strong therapeutic relationships with consumers. Passionate about recovery-oriented practice, you are committed to providing holistic, evidence-based care in the least restrictive way while supporting consumers to achieve their goals.
Requirements:
- Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program), Nutrition, and Dietetics which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.
