What’s the Role:
The Cyber Security Data Engineer is a hands‑on technical specialist within the Cybersecurity Reporting and Analytics (CRA) team, that forms part of the Cybersecurity Governance team in ISG.
The role is responsible for designing, building and maintaining engineering solutions that support policy implementation, continuous assurance, compliance reporting and governance, including decision records, evidence pipelines, governance data models and the safe and effective use of AI across cyber governance activities.
This role develops production-quality code, automation, data pipelines, reporting solutions and reusable AI-enabled capabilities that improve the efficiency, quality and traceability of cyber governance processes within a complex and regulated technology environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build engineering solutions to support cyber governance activities, including compliance monitoring, control assessments, issue management and reporting.
- Develop production-quality code, automation and data pipelines (primarily Python) to improve efficiency, data quality and traceability.
- Build and maintain AI-enabled tools to support governance functions such as policy analysis, control mapping, reporting and issue triage.
- Apply spec-driven development practices to design, document and validate system behaviour, ensuring clear alignment between governance requirements, policies and engineering outcomes.
- Create reusable components and integrations to collect, transform and report governance, risk and compliance data using platforms like Palantir and Power BI.
- Support governance controls and risk-informed AI usage by implementing guardrails, secure data handling, monitoring and oversight mechanisms.
What do I need?
- Proven ability to deliver engineering solutions supporting cyber governance, including policy implementation, compliance monitoring and control assessments
- Strong background in building AI-enabled tools, automation and data pipelines to improve efficiency, traceability and outcomes across governance workflows
- Capability to apply spec-driven or specification-first approaches to translate governance policies, controls and requirements into clear technical designs and executable systems
- Track record of developing reusable data integrations, reporting and dashboards (e.g. Palantir, Power BI) to provide visibility of risk, compliance and control effectiveness
- Ability to embed security guardrails and controls within AI and agent-based applications, including data protection, prompt safety and oversight mechanisms
- Strong capability across cyber governance/GRC, Python engineering, and data analysis/engineering, with the ability to translate technical solutions into business outcomes and uplift governance processes
