Primary objective
Provide effective and efficient reception, bookings clerk and administrative support responsive to the needs of patients, clinicians,
management and stakeholders on behalf of the Gove District Hospital (GDH) Medical Imaging Department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide frontline reception and bookings duties for radiology procedures requested by General Physician (GP) services,
Emergency Department (ED), Specialist Clinics, GDH Wards and Primary Health Care (PHC) service providers.
2. Obtain and maintain accurate patient data on Radiology Information System (RIS) and Acacia, meeting the clinical and
management requirements of GDH while maintaining exemplary patient confidentiality.
3. Assist in maximising hospital revenue by satisfying the requirements of Cross Border Charging and identifying compensable
and private patients.
4. Support the GDH Medical Imaging Manager with administrative tasks as requested.
5. Autonomously make decisions regarding appropriate times for examinations in line with guidelines presented.
6. Multi-skill to other designated areas to support the cross-functional administration teams.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level of self-motivation, initiative and experience working unsupervised and as a member of a team in an extremely high
pressure and changing environment.
2. Demonstrated experience as first point of contact for patients providing strong customer service, with the ability to deal with
difficult situations.
3. Demonstrated experience using computer systems, electronic mail and patient information databases or similar, as well as
general office equipment.
4. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues.
5. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with all levels of staff and members of the public,
with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
6. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of human anatomy and or medical terminology.
