We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assessor to join our operations team at Parkinson, Qld. This is a dedicated quality role responsible for providing independent quality oversight across warehouse, ripening and packing operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Warehouse Operations General Manager, the Quality Assessor is responsible for conducting formal product quality assessments and ensuring compliance with customer specifications, food safety requirements and business standards.
The role provides an independent quality function within the warehouse and is responsible for assessing incoming, ripening, packed and dispatch-ready stock to ensure products meet customer expectations and commercial requirements.
This position plays a key role in quality decision-making through product assessment, quality holds and releases, audit documentation and claims support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct formal quality assessments of bananas, avocados and mangoes and ensure product quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Complete customer-specific quality checks, packed product inspections and dispatch quality verifications.
- Maintain product specifications, quality standards and calibration records.
- Support investigations relating to customer claims, product rejections and quality issues.
- Assist with identifying quality trends, product waste and corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits, food safety programs and compliance requirements.
- Retain independent responsibility for formal quality assessments and quality decisions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- Previous experience in a quality assurance, quality control or fresh produce quality assessment role.
- Strong understanding of fresh produce quality standards, particularly bananas, avocados and mangoes.
- Ability to assess fruit maturity, ripeness, condition and defects.
- Experience maintaining quality records and traceability documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound computer literacy and record-keeping capabilities.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in Food Science and Technology, Quality Assurance, Food Processing, or a related discipline.
- Experience within fresh produce, horticulture, food manufacturing or agricultural industries.
- Knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP principles and quality management systems.
- Experience supporting customer claims investigations and audit processes.
- Understanding of ripening operations and fresh produce supply chains.
