About the Role
Red Emperor Chinese Restaurant is seeking a full-time Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining food quality, consistency and presentation standards across daily service periods while supporting efficient kitchen operations.
Skills and Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and at least 2 years of relevant post-qualification work experience; OR
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience.
In addition, applicants should demonstrate:
- Experience working in high-volume commercial kitchens.
- Strong understanding of Asian flavours, seasoning techniques and ingredient preparation.
- Experience maintaining consistent food quality and presentation standards.
- Knowledge of contemporary food plating and presentation techniques.
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and stock rotation procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes, preparation methods and quality standards.
- Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation to ensure consistency during service.
- Apply knowledge of flavour balancing, seasoning and ingredient preparation to maintain the restaurant’s food standards.
- Prepare ingredients and organise workstation setup to support efficient kitchen operations.
- Maintain high standards of plating and food presentation before dishes are served to customers.
- Assist in monitoring ingredient quality and reporting any issues relating to freshness or consistency.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with stock rotation, storage and minimisation of food wastage.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff during peak service periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
