Who We Are
At Benevolent, we believe every person deserves to live life on their own terms, with dignity, respect and a sense of belonging. For over two centuries, as Australia's first charity, this belief has shaped who we are and how we work.
As a not-for-profit, independent and non-religious organisation, we are a practice-led organisation, our work is grounded in evidence and strength-based approaches that place people at the centre of everything we do. We walk alongside individuals, families and communities, upholding rights, amplifying voices and advocating for safer, more inclusive systems where people can thrive.
Your Opportunity
For over 30 years, our Post Adoption Resource Centre (PARC) has walked alongside people across NSW whose lives have been shaped by adoption, including those navigating identity, grief, loss, reconnection and the lasting impacts of trauma. This is meaningful, specialised work where every conversation matters, and where your ability to create safety, trust and hope can make a real difference.
As the PARC Team Leader, reporting to the Manager, you will lead a team of counsellors who support clients affected by adoption though counselling, search and intermediary services, therapeutic groups, adoptions connections groups and professional development.
The Team Leader will be responsible for providing high-quality supervision, professional development and mentoring and hands-on support to the PARC team. You will be an emphatic leader who seeks to support your team and places importance on their need for supervision and seeks out opportunities for their professional development. You will have a good understanding of departmental funding agreements and can respond to departmental reporting demands. You will value all aspects of the work of the PARC team, including counselling, intermediary and searching.

Collaborate with the Manager to ensure the way the team works is commercially effective and sustainable, identifying opportunities for process improvement or more effective ways of working.
Collaborate with team members to help them understand and achieve performance expectations, build their capability, provide regular recognition, develop, and utilise talent in the team, and identify and achieve improved client outcomes and increase employee engagement.
Evaluate the quality-of-service-delivery, client plans and client outcomes against service, funding and compliance objectives on a regular basis.
Coordinate regular communication channels including team meetings, client, and practice reviews, and 1:1 discussion with team members.
Identify learning needs within the team, and appropriate learning opportunities both within and without the organisation, liaising with the learning and development team as appropriate. Develop and facilitate learning opportunities when appropriate
Comply with mandatory reporting requirements that apply to the service, in conjunction with the Manager.
