THE POSITION:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Economic Development Project Officer to join our team on a temporary basis until March 2027.
Fairfield City is home to more than 215,000 residents, over 27,000 businesses and one of Australia's largest manufacturing precincts. We are delivering an ambitious Economic Development Strategy focused on supporting local businesses, creating jobs, attracting investment and developing vibrant places.
Our Economic Development team delivers a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives that support business growth, industry development, investment attraction, the visitor economy and town centre revitalisation. Working closely with businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, industry groups and community stakeholders, the team plays a key role in strengthening Fairfield City's economy and creating opportunities for our local community.
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development, this role will coordinate and deliver a broad range of economic development projects, programs and initiatives. The role involves stakeholder engagement, economic research and analysis, project coordination, business support activities, grant and funding submissions, and the delivery of initiatives that support local business growth, employment generation, investment attraction and economic resilience across Fairfield City.
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Economics or a related discipline
- Current NSW Class C Driver Licence
- Demonstrated experience in economic development, local government, industry or private sector project delivery.
- Experience delivering projects and programs within agreed timeframes and budgets
- Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management and partnership-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
- Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience facilitating stakeholder consultations, workshops or engagement activities
- Sound understanding of economic development principles, business engagement and industry development
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business systems.
The following skills and experience are considered advantageous for this role:
- Grant writing experience
- Economic research and analysis experience
- Stakeholder engagement and community consultation experience
- Business engagement or program delivery experience
- Experience working in local government.
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Temporary position until March 2027
- Full time, working 70 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade 6, with a salary range of $99,134 p.a. with progression to $106,755 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, and performance progression up to $116,122 p.a., plus superannuation
