About the Role
Lil Destiny Pty Ltd TA Sage Cafe is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning menus, preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining food quality standards, managing kitchen operations, and supporting the delivery of consistent dining experiences for our customers.
The Chef will work closely with management, kitchen, and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations, compliance with food safety standards, and the continuous improvement of menu offerings and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan menus and develop new dishes in line with customer preferences and business requirements.
* Estimate food and labor costs, assist with kitchen budgeting, and order food supplies.
* Inspect deliveries, manage stock levels, and ensure the proper storage, freezing, and preservation of food products.
* Prepare, season, and cook a variety of meals in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
* Monitor the quality and presentation of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and service.
* Discuss menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen operations with management and kitchen staff.
* Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide kitchen staff on food preparation procedures.
* Supervise, select, and train kitchen staff, including apprentices, to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of 4 years' relevant full-time post-qualification experience as a Chef (or equivalent experience where applicable).
* Demonstrated experience in commercial kitchen operations, menu planning, and food production.
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene requirements, and kitchen procedures.
* The ability to manage kitchen operations and work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
* Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
* The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
