About Indigo Junction
Indigo Junction is a community-based not-for-profit organisation providing accommodation, specialist support and community services to people experiencing homelessness, housing crisis and other hardship across Midland and the broader northeast metropolitan area. For more than 45 years, Indigo Junction has worked alongside individuals, families and the community to build safety, stability, connection and independence.
Role Objectives
Indigo Junction is seeking experienced and values-aligned individuals to join its Board and contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction, governance and long-term sustainability. This is an important period of growth, with new services, capital development and construction projects progressing to expand accommodation and support capacity. Directors work collectively to provide sound oversight of organisational performance, risk, financial sustainability, service quality and community outcomes.
Indigo Junction welcomes candidates with diverse professional, cultural, community and lived experience, including emerging and younger professionals seeking to build governance capability.
Skills and Experience Sought
To complement the skills and experience of the existing Board, we are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Property development and financing
- Human resources, workforce strategy or organisational development
- Community services, housing, homelessness or social services
- Legal oversight
- Risk management, governance, compliance
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to Indigo Junction’s strategic direction, priorities and long-term sustainability.
- Monitor organisational performance, service quality, financial position and key risks.
- Provide oversight of growth, capital development and construction projects.
- Support compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, funding and constitutional requirements.
- Review Board papers, prepare for meetings and actively participate in informed decision-making.
- Exercise independent judgement while working respectfully and collaboratively with fellow Directors and the CEO.
- Act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of Indigo Junction and the communities it serves.
- Maintain confidentiality and identify, disclose and appropriately manage conflicts of interest.
- Participate in induction, training, Board evaluation and relevant development activities.
Board Development and Support
Indigo Junction is open to supporting suitable candidates through Board and governance training, mentoring, induction and ongoing development opportunities.
