About The Role
We are seeking a talented graduate to intermediate level Town Planner to become a valued member of our busy multidisciplinary engineering office based in Hornsby, NSW.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for a willing and enthusiastic new or recent graduate wanting to build their town planning experience. It is also suitable for an experienced practitioner wishing to build on their existing career and progress it to the next level.
It involves working from our Hornsby office on a wide range of projects and includes providing support to engineers, project managers and directors to:
- Prepare planning reports including Statements of Environmental Effects, Environmental Impact Statements and Review of Environmental Factors.
- Prepare and lodge development applications, planning proposals, modification applications and building information certificate applications.
- Provide planning advice documents including project approvals strategy, land use characterisation, development capability, and due diligence assessments.
- Liaise with and respond to client, consultant and Council queries.

About You
We are seeking candidates that take pride in their work, have a positive attitude, are punctual, reliable, hardworking and able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
It is essential for the applicants to have:
- Degree in Town Planning or closely related field, preferably from a university in NSW.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW planning framework and approvals system.
- Good written and verbal communication and proficient report and business writing skills in English.
- The ability to work in a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team environment.
- Positive and proactive attitude and be motivated, team player, organised and eager to learn.
- High level of skills in MS Office, particularly in MS Word and Outlook.
- Full time Australian work rights.
Any of the following experiences and qualities will be considered favourable:
- Local (NSW) experience in statutory town planning, either in local government sector or in private consultancy.
- Experience in multidisciplinary consultancy, especially in land development and planning proposal projects in NSW.
- Experience in environmental planning in NSW including Water Management Act matters and Land Contamination.
- Ability to liaise, engage and coordinate with project stakeholders and negotiate with authorities.
- Experience with GIS software packages (QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.).
- NSW full driver licence.
