Help us deliver a better tomorrow
Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.
About the opportunity
Join our Payroll Governance and Compliance function within IR and Reform, where you’ll play a key role in strengthening payroll confidence across the business. This is a critical assurance role, focused on identifying payroll compliance risks, testing controls and providing independent insight before issues impact pay outcomes.
Working separately from Payroll Operations, you’ll be part of a team that supports defensible decision-making, improves control effectiveness and helps reduce risk across the full payroll lifecycle.
What you’ll deliver with us
You’ll provide independent assurance over payroll outcomes, controls and payroll-related change, using data, structured analysis and sound judgement to identify risk, test control effectiveness and escalate issues early.
Your work will help ensure payroll outcomes align with enterprise agreements, awards, legislation and policy requirements, while supporting governance forums, audit activity and continuous improvement across payroll compliance.
You’ll also
-
Analyse payroll and time and attendance data to identify anomalies, trends, systemic risk drivers and emerging compliance issues.
-
Conduct targeted assurance reviews and deep dives to assess whether payroll controls are operating as intended.
-
Provide independent compliance input, challenge assumptions and escalate risks through agreed governance pathways where evidence does not support proposed approaches.
-
Assess the payroll compliance impact of legislative, enterprise agreement and policy changes, including implications for systems, processes and controls.
-
Develop dashboards, exception reporting and assurance packs that clearly communicate findings, risk implications and recommended actions.
About you
You’re an analytical professional who brings curiosity and confidence working through complex payroll compliance matters. You’re comfortable challenging assumptions in a constructive way, using evidence to form clear and defensible views that support fair, compliant and well-governed pay outcomes.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and can work effectively across Payroll Operations, IR, Legal, Audit, Risk and Technology teams. With a practical, prevention-focused mindset, you’re motivated by improving controls, reducing risk and supporting outcomes that reflect Australia Post’s commitment to trust, integrity and care for its people.
You’ll also need
-
Experience analysing large payroll, workforce or time and attendance datasets to identify risks, anomalies, trends or control failures.
-
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, enterprise agreements, awards and broader compliance obligations.
-
