Telcomtec is a Brisbane-based electronic security and communications company delivering CCTV, access control, intercom, alarm, structured cabling, fibre and network solutions across South East Queensland.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Security Technician to join our close-knit team.
This role suits someone who is technically capable, takes pride in their workmanship and can confidently work both independently and as part of a team. For the right person, there is an opportunity to progress into a Senior Technician, Project Management or Management role.
About the Role
You will install, commission, program, maintain and service electronic security and communications systems across commercial, residential, body corporate and large integrated projects.
The role includes project installations, upgrades, preventative maintenance, technical support and reactive service work.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, program and service access control, CCTV, alarm and intercom systems.
- Program access control panels, readers, inputs, outputs and associated door hardware.
- Configure IP cameras, network video recorders and video management systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults and system integration issues.
- Configure network switches, IP addresses, VLANs and PoE devices.
- Attend scheduled maintenance visits and reactive service call-outs.
- Test systems and confirm correct operation before handover.
- Complete service reports, job notes and commissioning documentation.
- Liaise with clients, building managers, builders, electricians, IT providers and other contractors.
- Provide system training and technical support to clients when required.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, presentation and customer service.
About You
You will have:
- Proven experience installing, commissioning and servicing electronic security systems.
- Strong access control and IP CCTV experience.
- Experience programming and fault-finding security systems.
- A solid understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, network switching and troubleshooting.
- The ability to read plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work unsupervised and manage your workload.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- A reliable, organised and accountable approach to your work.
Essential Requirements
- Current Queensland Security Equipment Installer Licence.
- Current Open Cabling Registration.
- Current Australian driver licence.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Full Australian working rights.
- Ability to obtain police checks and relevant site clearances when required.

Applicants are not expected to have experience with every platform. Strong access control, CCTV and networking knowledge is most important.
Remuneration and Benefits
- Base salary of $90,000–$120,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience, licences and technical capability.
- Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, provided separately from the advertised salary.
