We are based in Brisbane and are currently accepting applications for a Junior Sous Chef at Howard Smith Wharves for an immediate start. As a senior member of the team, you will assist in leading motivated and talented chefs to execute memorable experiences for our guests. Key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare food in line with quality and presentation standards within the pizza kitchen
- Plan, organise and control day to day operations of the kitchen for optimum functioning
- Ensure the quality control and portion consistency of food served are maintained in line with business volumes
- Monitor stock levels and place orders accordingly
- Ensure highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and equipment are always maintained
- Contribute to the construction and costing of menus with new culinary creations
- Assisting the Executive Chef with the overall operation of the kitchen
- Manage food costs in line with the budget, along with labour costs
- Mentor, train and develop Chefs on techniques and cooking procedures, food safety regulations and workplace health and safety
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 1 year or relevant work experience
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
- Undeniable pride for creating and delivering consistent, high quality produce
- Solid experience leading and directing a kitchen team
- Passion for innovative menu design
- The ability to work under pressure whilst executing precise time management skills involving planning, prioritising and delegating
- Flexibility and availability to work across a rotating roster

Annual income for standard 38 hour week excluding superannuation is $82,500 per annum + 12% superannuation commensurate with industry rate, skills and experience.
