Care Fast is seeking an experienced, emotionally mature Disability Support Worker to support a young adult with complex psychosocial disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, and a trauma background.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is calm, patient, trauma-informed, and genuinely passionate about helping participants build independence through practical, capacity-building support.
About the Role
This participant currently lives independently and requires structured, intermittent support throughout the day to develop confidence, daily living skills, emotional regulation, and community participation.
Success in this role comes from building trust, maintaining professional boundaries, and empowering the participant to complete tasks collaboratively rather than doing everything for them.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Living & Capacity Building
- Support with daily routines and independent living skills.
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation.
- Support household cleaning, laundry and home organisation.
- Encourage tenancy responsibilities and property maintenance.
- Promote independence through coaching and collaborative support.
Community & Lifestyle Support
- Support gradual community engagement using a trauma-informed approach.
- Encourage participation in education, appointments and meaningful activities.
- Foster confidence while respecting the participant's need for personal space.
Behaviour & Emotional Support
- Remain calm and non-reactive during periods of emotional dysregulation.
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support strategies and organisational procedures.
- Maintain consistent professional boundaries.
- Build rapport through patience, reliability and trust.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting participants with ASD, ABI, trauma or psychosocial disability.
- Has strong emotional resilience and remains calm under pressure.
- Is confident maintaining professional boundaries.
- Understands person-centred and trauma-informed practice.
- Can work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Is reliable, consistent and committed to long-term participant outcomes.
Female support workers are encouraged to apply, as they are preferred for the initial stage of this support arrangement.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- National Police Check.
- Current First Aid & CPR.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
- Victorian Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Working with Children Check (preferred).
- Current medication competency (preferred).
- Experience with complex behaviours or psychosocial disability is highly regarded.
