Health & Safety Advisor - Perth based
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a well-established residential builder with operations across Western Australia and South Australia.
Reporting to the Head of Construction, you'll play a pivotal role in driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, supporting operational teams and continuously improving health and safety systems across both construction sites and office environments.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive behaviours and making a genuine impact on workplace safety.
The Opportunity
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you'll partner closely with construction leaders, site supervisors and subcontractors to ensure safety remains at the forefront of every project.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting regular construction site inspections and safety audits across WA and periodic travel to South Australia.
- Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, policies and management systems.
- Investigating incidents, hazards and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Managing subcontractor prequalification, onboarding and compliance.
- Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks and safety training.
- Reviewing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and risk assessments.
- Supporting injury management and return-to-work processes.
- Preparing safety reports and providing advice to senior leadership.
- Promoting continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety performance across the business.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, coach and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Current White Card and Australian Driver's Licence.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Additional qualifications such as a Diploma in WHS, ICAM Investigation Training, Internal Auditor qualifications or Return to Work Coordinator certification will be highly regarded.
