Merak GF is a busy, premium, 100% gluten-free café, deli, and artisan food business with a loyal customer base and a reputation for exceptional food, specialty coffee, and customer service.
We are looking for an experienced Barista & Café All-Rounder to join our team. This is not a junior role. Applicants must have genuine experience working in a busy café environment and be confident behind a commercial coffee machine.
Availability Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be available to work Saturday and Sunday
- Be available across our Wednesday to Sunday trading week
- Have reliable transport and be able to travel to Redland Bay QLD 4165
Additional hours are available for candidates who can confidently open, close, and work independently.
Preferred availability includes:
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Saturday
- Sunday
- Friday and Saturday evenings (highly regarded)
About the Role
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing high-quality coffees in a fast-paced environment
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Taking orders and operating the POS system
- Running food and drinks
- Maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards
- Supporting the team during busy service periods
- Opening and closing duties (for experienced candidates)
Essential Requirements
✔ Minimum 1 year commercial barista experience in a busy café
✔ Ability to work efficiently under pressure
✔ Strong customer service and communication skills
✔ Experience using commercial espresso equipment
✔ Reliable, punctual, and team-focused
✔ Contactable hospitality references
✔ Must be able to travel to Redland Bay 4165
✔ Unrestricted Australian working rights
Highly Regarded
- Experience opening and closing a café independently
- Experience with Square POS
- Experience in allergen-controlled or high food-safety environments
