About Us
Backyard Co Café is a busy and growing café committed to delivering exceptional food, outstanding customer service, and a welcoming dining experience. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time permanent basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan menus and develop seasonal food offerings.
* Estimate food and labour costs and assist with kitchen budgeting.
* Order, receive and monitor food supplies and kitchen inventory.
* Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes and standards.
* Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation.
* Train, supervise and support kitchen staff.
* Work with management on menu planning and daily kitchen operations.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and sanitation.
* Ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
* Assist with stock control, food preservation and minimisation of food wastage.
* Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
* Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification; or
* A minimum of one year of full time experience or if there is no formal qualification then at least three years of relevant full-time Chef experience
* Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
* Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills.
* Availability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays on a rotating roster.
