PRODUCTION HORTICULTURE SUPERVISOR - TODARO GROUP PTY LTD (TODARO FARMS)
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with all aspects of planning for the efficient running of the farm.
- Oversee planting, growing, harvesting and packaging of crops to ensure that supply commitments are fulfilled with quality produce.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures and work as a team to ensure all staff do the same.
- Manage the team of staff to ensure that planting, picking and packing are completed to the highest standards and in the most efficient manner possible and ensure that the quality of harvest is maintained to minimize damage
- Participate in Management Team meetings and Policy and Procedure development and implementation.
- Oversee irrigation management as required.
- Identify and report unual disease or plant pest signs.
•transport and store chemicals per procedures
•carry out disease and pest control procedures as required
•operate chemical application machinery and equipment
- Act as Fire Warden as part of the Emergency Management team as per training.
- Liaise with transport companies and customers as required to ensure that orders can be filled as required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Chemical User permit is desirable but not essential as supervision and training can be arranged
Experience:
- Verifiable work history in Horticulture industry.
- Demonstrated ability to plan plantings to ensure adequate harvestable crops to meet supply agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to assess incoming seedlings and inputs for quality and report and concerns to the supplier.
- Demonstrated ability to assess standing crops in order to schedule harvesting and manage disease and pests.
- Demonstrated ability to assess quality of harvested crops to ensure that all produce supplied to customers meets the customers specifications.
Skills:
- Ability to understand, follow and communicate policies and instructions.
- Physical strength and stamina.
- Resilience to work in all conditions and lead others in the team to do so also.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Ability to read and write English
