Bar Supervisor

This is a permanent part time position.
About the Role
As a Bar Supervisor, you will oversee the operation of the MECC bars during events, providing leadership to casual bar staff and volunteers while ensuring compliance with responsible service practices. You will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining stock and cash controls, and ensuring the bar operates safely and efficiently at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise bar operations during events and functions.
- Lead, coach and support casual staff and volunteers.
- Monitor service standards and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Assist with ordering, stock management and regular stocktakes.
- Manage cash handling and administrative processes.
- Maintain bar equipment, including coffee machines.
- Ensure safe work practices, cleanliness and waste management procedures are followed.
- Support cost control and operational efficiency initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential Requirements
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Blue Card.
- Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Check.
- Ability to undertake a pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical with instant drug & alcohol testing.
- Demonstrated experience leading and directing staff and/or volunteers in a hospitality environment.
- Extensive experience in beverage preparation, service delivery, functions and events.
- Strong cash handling and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret event plans and requirements.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and Council's values. Desirable
- Experience working in a theatre, entertainment venue, or large-scale events environment.
- Understanding of enterprise risk management principles.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
