The Role
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Contracts Specialists for two (2) upcoming opportunities within our Commercial team. These roles have anticipated start dates in September and October and are fixed-term positions based at our Perth Office.
Reporting to the Contracts Lead, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including contract formation, request for tender (RFQ) processes, contract negotiation, execution and governance.
You will develop and implement contract management frameworks, ensuring all contract activities are delivered in line with Covalent's policies and procedures, support strong commercial outcomes, optimise value for the business, and effectively manage contractual risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, from tender preparation and contract award through to administration, variations and close-out.
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers to achieve favourable business outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality tender documentation and support the evaluation and award of contracts.
- Administer major contracts, including progress claims, variations, extensions of time and contract performance.
- Develop and maintain contract governance frameworks, registers, KPIs and risk management processes.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to internal stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, Finance and project teams to ensure contractual obligations, compliance and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Prepare business cases and recommendations for contract approvals.
- Identify, manage and escalate commercial, contractual and legal risks as required.
- Drive continuous improvement in contract management processes, systems and stakeholder capability.
Role requirements
- A tertiary degree in Commerce, Engineering, Business or Law.
- 5-7 years experience establishing and managing high-value contracts in a mining/construction project environment.
- Excellent Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management skills.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing end-to-end procurement processes
- Experience in managing contracts within SAP, Ariba or similar ERP Systems
- Demonstrated tender and contract negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders
