A solo-practice Clinical Psychologist is looking for a warm, reliable and organised assistant to provide reception, administrative and day-to-day practice support.
The role would suit someone who enjoys helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, creating a welcoming environment, and providing thoughtful service to clients.
Your role
Your responsibilities may include:
- Reception and client support — welcoming clients, assisting with general enquiries, and helping create a calm, warm and comfortable environment
- Administrative support — managing bookings and enquiries, handling documents and correspondence, and communicating with third parties such as referrers and other service providers
- Payment administration — assisting with payments, invoices, receipts and other routine billing tasks
- Practice preparation — opening and preparing the practice for the day, keeping consultation and reception areas organised, and basic tidying and cleaning
- Clinical preparation support — preparing materials and equipment for psychological therapy and assessment under the psychologist’s direction
- Other reasonable ad hoc practice-support duties as required by the clinician
This is a non-clinical role. You will not be expected to provide psychological advice, make clinical decisions, or independently deliver psychological services.
About you
You will need:
- Spoken Cantonese and Mandarin, with the ability to read and type Chinese
- Professional working English
- A patient, caring and respectful manner
- A genuinely service-oriented attitude, particularly when interacting with people who may be distressed or vulnerable
- Reliability and good time management
- Basic computer literacy and confidence in learning new systems
- Willingness to learn
- Strong professionalism, discretion and respect for client confidentiality
- A current NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one if required
Previous experience in customer service, reception, administration, or a helping profession is desirable but not essential.
Why you might enjoy this role
Unlike many reception and administrative positions in larger practices, you will primarily support 1* psychologist*.
This means:
- A focused and manageable workload supporting one clinician
- A small-team environment without layers of office hierarchy or politics
- A close and collaborative working relationship with the clinician, with plenty of opportunities to learn directly through day-to-day practice
- A calm practice environment
- Direct training and insight into how a private psychology practice operates
- Potential opportunities to assist with the preparation of therapy and psychological assessment materials
- Opportunities for the role to grow as the practice develops
The position is currently on-site approximately two days per week. There may be opportunities for additional days and some work-from-home administrative duties in the future.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is kind, considerate, dependable and takes pride in looking after people well.
