Responsibilities include: Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and job requirements to determine fabrication and repair work requirements. Measuring, marking out and preparing metal materials for fabrication, modification and repair projects. Cutting, shaping and forming metal sections, pipes and components using hand tools, power tools and fabrication equipment. Fabricating, assembling and fitting metal parts and structures in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. Performing welding activities using appropriate welding techniques to join and repair metal components. Repairing and modifying vehicle-related metal components, brackets, frames and custom-fabricated assemblies as required. Inspecting fabricated and welded components to ensure accuracy, structural integrity and compliance with required standards. Grinding, finishing and preparing completed work to achieve required specifications and presentation standards. Operating and maintaining fabrication machinery, welding equipment and workshop tools in a safe and efficient manner. Assisting with vehicle restoration, custom fabrication and modification projects to meet customer and operational requirements. Working collaboratively with workshop staff to complete fabrication and repair projects within required timeframes. Required Skills and Qualifications AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV is preferred. If no formal qualifications, at least three years of relevant experience as a Metal Fabricator, Welder or in a similar fabrication role. Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication, welding and assembly work. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication plans and specifications. Experience using welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, fabrication machinery and measuring instruments. Trade qualifications, vocational training or industry certifications in fabrication, welding or related fields will be highly regarded. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a workshop environment.
