What you’ll do:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Data & Analytics team. Reporting to the Analytics Manager, you will lead the delivery of high-impact data science initiatives that drive commercial value across Wesfarmers Health.
This role combines deep analytical problem-solving, machine learning, AI innovation and stakeholder engagement. You will lead complex investigative analytics, develop end-to-end data science products, shape our evolving data science architecture and support our Ecommerce business through digital analytics. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to transform data into actionable insights and scalable solutions that improve business performance.
Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Advanced Analytics & Data Science Solutions : Lead deep-dive analytical investigations and develop end-to-end machine learning models, agentic AI solutions and bespoke applications that generate measurable business outcomes across retail, pricing, inventory and other commercial domains
- Digital Analytics : Support Ecommerce through website and customer behaviour analytics, ensuring reliable measurement, troubleshooting data quality issues and maintaining Google Analytics (GA4) instrumentation
- Data Science Architecture : Contribute to the design and evolution of a modern data science ecosystem, leveraging platforms such as Snowflake, AWS and emerging technologies to support scalable development and deployment
- Business Engagement & Delivery : Partner with senior stakeholders to define opportunities, communicate insights, manage priorities and deliver data science solutions from concept through to implementation
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship : Guide and mentor data scientists and analysts, foster knowledge sharing and contribute to the continuous improvement of team practices and delivery standards
What you’ll bring:
- Proven hands-on experience in data science/advanced analytics roles, including leading complex initiatives, designing, building and productionising machine learning models and end-to-end data products, and mentoring junior team members
- Advanced user in SQL, one of R or Python. Proficient with Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS and Notebooks; exposure to or strong interest in Databricks.
- Experience designing, building and productionising machine learning models and/or agentic/conversational AI solutions, including deployment in AWS
- Familiarity with CI/CD and version control practices for data science delivery, and comfortable rapidly prototyping bespoke apps/tools (e.g. using React or similar) to meet ad hoc business needs
- Exposure to digital analytics platforms supporting Ecommerce (e.g. Google Analytics GA4, website/session traffic analysis, bot traffic remediation) highly regarded
- Strong program/project management experience, with the ability to independently plan, scope and sequence delivery for complex, ambiguous initiatives
- Advanced problem-solver and critical thinker with hands-on experience in data cleansing, profiling, visualisation, statistical analysis / modelling
Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer / Data Science or related field
