Basketball Star Academy is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic basketball coach to join our after-school basketball programs.
We run basketball sessions for children in school environments, with age groups generally ranging from 5 to 14 years old. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with kids, can communicate clearly, and can create a positive, safe and fun learning environment.
About the role:
You will be responsible for assisting with or leading after-school basketball sessions, including warm-ups, basic skill development, drills, small games and general supervision of children during the program.
Sessions are usually held on weekday afternoons after school.
Key responsibilities:
- Coach basketball skills to children aged 5–14
- Run fun, structured and age-appropriate drills
- Help manage behaviour and keep children engaged
- Ensure children are supervised and safe at all times
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff and other coaches
- Set up and pack up equipment when required
- Create a positive and encouraging environment for all participants
Requirements:
- Basketball playing or coaching experience
- Experience working with children is preferred
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Good communication skills
- Ability to manage groups of children
- Current Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one
- Driver’s licence and own transport required
Preferred but not essential:
- Previous school program coaching experience
- Basketball coaching qualification
- First Aid certificate
