Primary objective
Lead the review, rationalisation and progression of Safety and Wellbeing policies, procedures and associated documents
through a structured governance process, including consultation, endorsement and approval, while supporting effective
stakeholder engagement and policy system consistency across NT Health.
Context statement
The Safety and Wellbeing team maintains a consistent and accessible suite of WHS policies and procedures across NT
Health. This role will progress a prioritised backlog of policy and procedural reviews through structured consultation and
governance processes. The position will also work with regional stakeholders to assess local documentation for inclusion in
the agency-wide framework, supporting consistency and risk management.
Key duties and responsibilities
Review, update and rationalise WHS policies, procedures and related documents, applying a structured, risk-based approach
to prioritise and progress them through consultation and approval processes. Coordinate policy governance activities,
including stakeholder consultation, feedback integration and tracking through approval pathways, while building effective
relationships with stakeholders to support timely delivery. Work with regional stakeholders to assess local documentation
for inclusion in the NT Health framework, prepare clear policy documents and reports. Provide limited secretariat and
administrative support to the team including working group coordination, action tracking and triage of enquiries.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in policy development, review and governance processes, including progressing documents
through consultation and approval pathways.
2. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes, including organising work, meeting deadlines and
maintaining attention to detail while working independently.
3. Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to consult, influence and build
productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to drive outcomes, including resolving issues, facilitating consultation
and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
5. Ability to interpret legislative or regulatory requirements (including WHS or similar) and translate these into clear,
practical policy and procedural guidance.
Desirable
1. Experience working within a work health and safety (WHS) environment or with similar regulatory frameworks.
2. Relevant qualifications in WHS, public administration, policy or a related field.
