The Opportunity:
Ready to take the next step in your transport career? As our Afternoon Shift Supervisor, you’ll lead our local fleet operations to ensure drivers, asset allocations, and wharf timeslots run safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, this role is a fantastic platform to sharpen your leadership skills and take ownership of a high-performing team.
You will manage the shift's operational compliance, safety standards, and customer service. This is a permanent afternoon-shift role working 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with occasional weekend work based on customer demand.
You will:
Coordinate fleet control and daily transport operations
Manage driver and subcontractor movements to meet customer requirements
Oversee scheduling, wharf timeslots and fatigue management
Ensure allocations comply with transport legislation and company requirements
Monitor fleet, equipment and maintenance requirements
Liaise with key customers and communicate operational updates
Lead safety, compliance, audits, incident reporting and quality improvement activities
Support service failure investigations and drive continuous improvement
Lead by example and ensure drivers and team members follow K&S policies and procedures
This role requires occasional after-hours support and a strong commitment to operational excellence, safety leadership and team performance.
You will have:
Experience in fleet control, transport operations or a similar supervisory role
Must have 1-Stop wharf booking system & Container Chain system experience
Wharf operations experience is highly desired
Experience with scheduling and coordinating wharf timeslots
Strong knowledge of transport compliance, fatigue management and safety
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to use Microsoft Office and transport systems effectively
A current Driver’s Licence
The ability to lead, motivate and hold a team accountable
