Primary objective
Manage Front Office or Student Services Desk and provide high quality administrative support services for Katherine High
School under the direction of the Business Manager and Executive Staff, in a busy and demanding school environment.
Context statement
Katherine High School is the only government secondary school in Katherine. It provides an educational service to students
from Year 7 to Year 12. In the Senior Years students are provided with multiple achievement pathways to ensure they
receive the education most appropriate to their needs. The school caters to a diverse population from a range of different
social, educational and cultural backgrounds. Katherine High School has an offsite program, Katherine Flexible Learning and
Engagement Centre and provides an alternate program for disengaged and at-risk teenagers in the Katherine area. The

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Perform word processing, data entry, administrative and other tasks as directed by the Business Manager & Executive
Team
2. Liaise with parents and caregiver, external stakeholders and service providers to support administrative tasks of school
3. Undertake data entry of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and computerised student
records, including ensuring the integrity and currency of the database
4. Supervise office functions and staff of Reception or Student Services, and the management of activities including
answering calls, greeting visitors and students, providing first aid and scheduling appointments
5. Provide administrative support to Reception or Student Services, the Executive team, teaching staff and students as
necessary
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students
as well as people from diverse cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds
2. High level administrative and organisational skills and ability to monitor own performance and tasks against expected
outcomes and meet deadlines whilst in a busy, fast paced work environment
3. Demonstrated computer literacy skills including experience in the effective use of various office applications, including
Microsoft Office and data management software such as SAMS and Compass
4. Experience in a busy school setting including management of daily functions, including answering phone calls and
greeting visitors
5. The ability to work in a team and maintain integrity and confidentiality
