Primary objective
To provide strategic and high level operational management across Forensic Mental Health Services (FMHT), Forensic Disability Unit
(FDU) and Child and Adolescents Mental Health Service (CAMHS), including leading the integration of Forensic Health Services and the
service design of CAMHS, and the development of integrated models of care, service reform and change management activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level leadership and management in the delivery of innovative and responsive forensic and CAMHS services
2. Lead the development of integrated models of care between FMHT and FDU in line with recommendations from the McGrath review.
3. Lead service improvements within CAMHS in line with the Child and Adolescent Roadmap to Reform.
4. Revision of ‘at risk’ protocols in the prison in collaboration with the Primary Health care team and FMHT, including ‘at risk’ youth in
detention with relevant stakeholders
5. Clarification of the quality framework for accreditation of Forensic services and commence work towards this.
6. Review and recommend models of service delivery for people with mental illness and or disability with multiple and complex needs
at risk of contact with the criminal justice system or transitioning from the criminal justice system.
7. Reinstate NT Forensic Mental Health services interface meeting.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant Health Services qualification.
2. Demonstrated experience in managing health services in a complex operating environment.
3. High level clinical project management, clinical design and change management experience.
4. High level ability to develop and implement policy, strategies and clinical models of care in service delivery operations.
5. Demonstrated experience of high level performance in leading and managing teas in complex operating environment with conflicting
demands.
6. High level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including demonstrated high level of negotiation,
collaboration and problem-solving skills
7. Understanding of contemporary forensic and child and adolescent policy directions, legislation, frameworks and issues locally,
nationally and internationally and how they can be translated into service models.
8. Proven ability in working across government and collaboration with external parties to Mental Health, and Disability.
9. Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal people within the Forensic Health system in the NT and extensive
experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
10. High level ability to use information, data and performance analytics to drive operational efficiency, inform decision-making, monitor
service performance and support continuous improvement in MHAOD service delivery.
11. Hold Current NT driver’s licence or ability to acquire.
Desirable
1. Relevant postgraduate qualifications in health management, forensic services, disability, mental health or alcohol and other drugs.
