About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair and operational performance of our retail store network across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting into the Store Design & Development team, you will be responsible for ensuring all stores, offices and facilities remain safe, compliant, operational and aligned with company standards. Acting as the key contact for all maintenance and facilities matters, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, landlords, contractors and service providers to deliver efficient and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys driving continuous improvement across a large portfolio of sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance requests, facility issues and emergency repairs across retail stores and offices.
- Partner closely with the Store Design, Development and Property teams to support the ongoing performance of the store network.
- Coordinate reactive repairs, routine maintenance and planned preventative maintenance programs.
- Manage external contractors and service providers to ensure works are completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
- Monitor and maintain maintenance helpdesk and ticketing systems, ensuring all requests are tracked and resolved efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and regulatory requirements across all facilities.
- Support store openings, relocations, refurbishments and closures by coordinating maintenance-related activities.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, service contracts, warranties, inspections and compliance documentation.
- Conduct site inspections to identify maintenance requirements and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage maintenance budgets, control costs and identify opportunities for savings and asset life extension.
- Liaise with landlords and property managers regarding shared services and landlord-responsible maintenance issues.
- Manage maintenance-related inventory, equipment and facility supplies.
- Analyse recurring issues and implement long-term solutions to improve operational performance and reduce maintenance expenditure.
- Support sustainability, waste reduction and energy efficiency initiatives across the store portfolio.
About You
You are a highly organised and solutions-focused facilities or maintenance professional with strong stakeholder management skills and a passion for delivering exceptional outcomes.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management or retail store operations.
- Experience managing contractors, service providers and maintenance programs across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, regulations and codes of practice.
- Experience supporting retail fit-outs, refurbishments, store openings or development projects.
- The ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach with a strong "Make It Happen" attitude.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety certification.
- Facilities Management qualifications or certifications (IWFM, IFMA or similar).
- Experience using maintenance and project management platforms such as Ticked Off, Zendesk, Smartsheet and AP21.
- Advanced proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
