Intensive Care Trainee, Trainee Reliever and Provisional Fellow Positions
These positions are based in ICU at Gosford Hospital.
The Gosford ICU is accredited for basic and advanced training (General Training) with the College of Intensive care Medicine (CICM).
Gosford ICU has a strong record of success with all parts of the CICM examinations.
Approved training can also be claimed by medical officers registered as trainees with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine). There is access to secondments for CICM Trainees to Anaesthetics, Acute and Longitudinal Medicine and Paediatric Intensive Care Units terms, Palliative Care and more.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.
CCLHD Intensive Care Services
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging service
The new Intensive Care Unit at Gosford Hospital opened in 2019 and has 24 physical bed space with 14 funded beds and the capacity to ventilate 11 patients. It is expected that the extra beds will be opened as clinical need arises.
The service also manages the Central Coast Road Retrieval Service.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services. The new ICU at Intensive Care Unit at Gosford Hospital opened in 2019 and has 12 physical bed spaces with 6 funded beds.
