Forensicare (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is Victoria’s specialist provider of forensic
mental health services. We deliver recovery-focused programs that support consumers living with serious mental illness or problematic behaviours who are connected to, or at risk of contact with, the justice system, across a variety of settings including community-based services, inpatient units, and secure environments throughout Victoria.
About the Role
As the Spiritual Care Coordinator, you will design and deliver a comprehensive pastoral and spiritual care program supporting patients at Thomas Embling Hospital. You’ll help individuals explore meaning, purpose, hope, and connection during their recovery, working within a multi-faith, multicultural framework that honours both sacred and secular perspectives.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to patient care planning and promote healing through inclusive, respectful spiritual care practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality spiritual care through assessment, counselling, and intervention.
- Coordinate access to spiritual care providers and resources across diverse faiths and beliefs.
- Support patient recovery by collaborating with clinical teams and contributing to care plans.
- Facilitate worship, rituals, and spiritual practices aligned with individual needs.
- Build trusted relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure continuity of care
- Participate in safety planning and promote a safe, therapeutic environment
- Represent Forensicare in external forums and maintain professional networks
About You
You are a compassionate and culturally aware professional with a strong commitment to recovery-oriented care. You bring:
- Experience delivering spiritual care across diverse cultural and faith backgrounds.
- A commitment to trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in complex clinical settings.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Eligibility for Certified Membership with Spiritual Care Australia (SCA)
- A passion for supporting wellbeing, inclusion, and holistic care
