About the Role

As a Rail Systems Modelling Graduate, you'll join V/Line's Network Strategy & Planning team for a 12-month opportunity where you'll help shape the future of regional rail across Victoria. You'll work with data, modelling tools and industry experts to better understand how the rail network operates and identify opportunities to improve services for our customers.
In this role, you'll develop hands-on experience analysing operational data, building and maintaining rail network models, testing future service scenarios and supporting timetable planning activities. You'll gain exposure to the challenges and opportunities involved in running a large-scale transport network and contribute to projects that help inform future rail services and infrastructure planning.
You'll be supported by experienced professionals and have opportunities to broaden your understanding of the rail industry through collaboration with a range of teams across the business. Whether you're interested in data, engineering, mathematics, transport or strategic planning, this role offers a unique pathway into a growing and impactful industry.
About You
You're curious, analytical and enjoy solving complex problems.
You may be completing or have recently completed a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Planning or a related STEM discipline, and you're excited by the idea of using data and technology to solve real-world challenges.
You'll thrive in this role if you:

Have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Communicate effectively and work well with others.
Are eager to learn and develop new technical skills.
Have an interest in transport, infrastructure or complex systems

No rail industry experience is required. We're looking for graduates with a willingness to learn, a proactive mindset and a genuine interest in building a career where they can make a lasting impact
