Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Grounds Services Officer is responsible for the presentation and maintenance of landside and airside external ground areas. The Grounds Services Officer will undertake grounds maintenance activities through the operation of plant and equipment to upkeep the safety and cleanliness of the airport grounds, pavements, roads, grass and garden areas, drainage, fencing, infrastructure and facilities, as required. The Ground Services Officer may also provide support to the Airport Safety Officers performing some relief Works & Airport Safety Officer duties.
Operations
The Operations Department is responsible for directing and overseeing all operational and asset management elements of CHA.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
These responsibilities are indicative only and can vary depending on operational and business requirements.
Objective 1: Grounds Maintenance

Utilise skills and competencies to undertake assigned tasks as a member of a flexible, multi-skilled work team to deliver a range of services.
- Operate and maintain plant, equipment and assets in a safe, efficient and effective manner in accordance with technical and operational procedures.
- Assist the Airfield Manager with programming of day to day activities, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Ensure all Airport areas and facilities are clean and tidy.
- Carry out maintenance of Airside grounds including airside areas as determined by Facilities Manager, including mowing, trimming, edging, and cleaning garden areas.
- Comply with relevant legislation, regulations, technical and operational standards and internal policies and procedures.
- Ensure team assets, plant and equipment are clean and maintained on a regular basis.
- Regularly review methods of carrying out works to continually improve production and safety.
- Actively promote of the need to maintain a safe working environment through compliance with the Safety Management Framework and workplace related health and safety legislation including the CASA compliant Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP).
- Comply with local, state and federal environmental legislation, report all environmental incidents and work in accordance with Airports Environmental and Sustainability Policies including the use of Environmental Management Plan.
- Actively demonstrate and endorse the Values the airport to our community, company, shareholders and stakeholders.
- Report all safety issues, hazards and incidents in strict accordance with airport procedures and major issues are referred to the Operations Manager.
- Regularly and accurately maintain all records for safety, quality, environment, security, asset management and other systems relating to grounds maintenance.
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently and seek technical advice from Manager or Airport Safety Officer if required.
Objective 2: Works Safety Officer Duties/ Airport Safety Officer Duties

Undertake the functions of an Aerodrome Reporting Officer/Works Safety Officer (as prescribed in CASA MoS Part 139 – Aerodromes) in relation to maintaining aviation safety and airport serviceability and the Coffs Harbour Airport Aerodrome Operations Manual.
- Undertake aerodrome serviceability inspections (runways, taxiways, aprons) including airspace intrusions (e.g. cranes) in accordance with the Aerodrome Manual and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Aviation Safety Regulations, Manual of Standards Part 139.
- Ensure airside works are conducted in a manner that maintains the appropriate aviation safety and security standards, and aerodrome operational efficiency.
- May be required to undertake dispersal of birds, bird counts and undertake wildlife management activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Cert III in horticultural, landscaping and weed management or relevant equivalent experience.
- Construction Induction Safety Card (White Card)
- Operating Tickets – Conduct Tractor Operations, Ride on Mowing (desirable)
Experience

Relevant plant and equipment experience
- Experience in safety with outdoor work
- Manual handling experience
- Groundskeeping, landscaping or grounds maintenance experience
- Possession of, or the ability to readily acquire:
- Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate
- NSW Category A and B Firearms Licence
- Airport Reporting and Works Safety Officer Certificate

- Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
