The Opportunity
Carey Baptist College (Harrisdale Campus) is seeking a passionate and experienced educational leader to head our dynamic Mathematics Department. This is a full-time position commencing in 2027 and reporting to the Assistant Principal – Curriculum.
This role is focused on Accountability, Leadership, Collaboration, Management and Communication, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and positive outcomes for both staff and students. This exciting opportunity will allow you to provide strategic leadership across Mathematics while continuing to inspire students through engaging and purposeful classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Develop and lead a clear vision for Mathematics that reflects the mission and strategic direction of the College.
- Oversee curriculum, assessment and student data to ensure high-quality teaching and continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Leadership and Management
- Develop staff through professional dialogue, mentoring and professional learning.
- Work closely with the leadership team to drive school improvement and ensure the effective operation and positive culture of the Department.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with staff, Heads of Department and pastoral leaders to optimise student learning and holistic outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with Year Managers, staff, parents and students to support positive learning outcomes.
Resource Management
- Prepare an annual budget and manage resources and expenses within that budget.
- Align departmental resources and expenditure with curriculum priorities and student learning needs.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have:
Extensive teaching of Mathematics in a variety of school settings including at Year 12 ATAR level.
Strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum in Mathematics from 7 to 12.
Use of ICT to enhance instructional practice.
A comprehensive understanding of current educational issues.
Ability to design, implement and review high quality assessment tasks.
Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, maintaining a balanced perspective when making decisions.
An active Christian faith and a desire to play your part in the story of God in the world as a key contributor to our open-enrolment Christian community.
