Business Unit
The Assets and Engineering Unit supports the planning, management and renewal of Council’s infrastructure and building assets. The team combines asset information, long-term planning and technical expertise to support sustainable service delivery, informed investment decisions and the effective management of Council's assets into the future.
The Opportunity
As the Strategic Asset Management Coordinator, you will lead Council’s strategic approach to managing public infrastructure and buildings across their full life cycle. You will coordinate asset management policies, strategies, plans, procedures and reporting, while supporting long-term asset planning and capital investment decisions.
You will drive the management and continuous improvement of Council’s asset management information system, strengthen asset data and reporting, and promote best-practice asset management across the organisation. You will ensure asset management is embedded across Council's planning, operations and capital works programs, partnering with business units across the organisation. You will also lead a team of asset management professionals, providing mentoring, direction, technical guidance and performance management while building capability.
This is a full-time, ongoing position, based at our Bruce Road Depot, in Kalimna West and operates under Council’s hybrid working model. An initial period of full-time office-based work will be required to support onboarding and training, with hybrid working arrangements available once the successful candidate has developed sufficient knowledge and capability in the role. While hybrid work flexibility is available, this role cannot be completed living outside of the region - an ongoing expectation of working from the office at least three days per week applies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development, implementation and review of Council’s asset management policies, strategies, plans and procedures.
- Coordinate long-term asset planning, service levels and ten-year capital works programs.
- Manage, support and continuously improve Council’s asset management information system and its integration with other corporate systems.
- Ensure asset registers are current and accurate through ongoing asset data validation and mapping, condition assessments, asset revaluations, and internal and external reporting.
- Provide technical advice on asset investment, service planning, renewal, maintenance, risk and capital budget planning, while leading and developing the asset management team.
What we're looking for:
- Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Engineering, Finance or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience applying asset management frameworks and developing asset management policies, strategies, plans and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of public infrastructure and the whole-of-life management of assets.
- Experience managing and improving asset management information systems, with experience using Confirm highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a specialist team, providing direction, coaching and support while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to solve complex problems and deliver customer-focused outcomes
