Key Duties and Responsibilities
● Read and interpret plans, drawings, templates, measurements and specifications to determine material requirements, dimensions and installation procedures.
● Measure, mark, cut, shape, polish and finish natural stone, porcelain, sintered stone and other compliant masonry slabs using stone-cutting machinery, hand tools and power tools.
● Fabricate and install kitchen benchtops, bathroom vanities, splashbacks, fireplace mantels, reception desks, stone panels and other custom stone features.
● Prepare templates, cut-outs, edge profiles, joins and surface finishes according to project requirements.
● Check levels, alignment, measurements and finished surfaces to ensure accurate, precise installation.
● Join, seal, grout, polish and finish stone surfaces using suitable adhesives, sealants and finishing materials.
● Repair, maintain and restore stone and masonry surfaces where required.
● Safely operate stone cutting, grinding, polishing and installation equipment.
● Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including dust control, PPE requirements and safe handling of heavy stone materials.
● Coordinate with builders, cabinet makers, site supervisors, suppliers and clients to complete projects efficiently and professionally.
● Maintain tools, machinery and work areas in a safe, clean and organised condition.
Requirements
● AQF Certificate III in Stonemasonry, or equivalent relevant qualification
● At least 1 year full-time or equivalent of hands-on experience in stone cutting, shaping, polishing, fabrication and installation.
● Experience working with natural stone, porcelain, sintered stone and other compliant stone materials.
● Ability to read and follow plans, drawings, templates, measurements and job specifications.
● Sound working knowledge of stone fabrication tools, machinery and installation methods.
● Good attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality finishes.
● Ability to work safely with stone materials, machinery, hand tools and lifting equipment.
● Construction White Card is preferred
● Reliable, hardworking, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Pay: $79,499.00 – $80,000.00 per year
