The role
As the Materials Manager, you will lead the end-to-end materials management function, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials to support our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager NSW, you will oversee purchasing, inventory control, materials planning, supplier management, logistics, warehouse operations, and WIP materials activities.
Leading a team, you will drive inventory optimisation, supplier performance, cost efficiencies, and continuous improvement while ensuring materials are available at the right time, quality, and cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead purchasing, supplier management, inventory control and materials planning activities.
- Ensure the uninterrupted supply of materials to support manufacturing, customer service and spare parts operations.
- Manage warehouse, receiving and logistics operations to optimise material flow and inventory accuracy.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, driving performance, service and cost improvements.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team while fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Optimise inventory levels, working capital and supply chain costs while maintaining service levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the effective use of SAP S/4HANA across the materials function.
About you
You are an experienced supply chain leader with a strong background in materials management within a manufacturing environment. You have a proven ability to lead teams, build supplier relationships, optimise inventory, and drive continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in materials management, supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing operations.
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or a similar ERP/MRP system.
- Experience in inventory optimisation, supplier management, and production support.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly regarded:
- APICS, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Project Management qualifications.
- Experience in appliance, HVAC, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to multi-site or regional supply chain operations.
