Senior Accountant, Temporary opportunity until end June 2028, based in Sydney CBD plus hybrid working options available
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to provide high‑quality financial expertise across the organisation. This role is responsible for strengthening financial governance, supporting strategic decision‑making, and ensuring compliance with NSW Treasury requirements, Australian Accounting Standards and internal policies.
The role will suit someone with strong technical accounting skills, excellent analytical capability, and the ability to partner effectively with stakeholders in a complex environment.

Salary, Clerk Grade 9/10: $129,464 - $142,665 + super and leave loading

Based in Sydney CBD with hybrid and flexible working options available
Key Accountabilities

Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis that support executive and operational decision‑making.

Maintain strong financial management controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, NSW Treasury policies and best‑practice financial processes.

Prepare and manage statutory, financial and organisational submissions with accuracy and compliance.

Support month‑end and year‑end activities including journals, reconciliations and financial statement inputs.

Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring data integrity and consistent financial assumptions.

Coordinate internal and external audit activities and assist in implementing recommendations.

Identify and implement financial process improvements to enhance systems, reporting and operational efficiency.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field

CA/CPA qualification

Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and public sector financial frameworks

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
-
Strong analytical skills and a commitment to continuous improvement

Have an inquisitive mind and excellent time management skills
