We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to report directly to our Commercial Director on a full- time basis.
West State Electrics is a Perth-based solar, battery and energy solutions business that provides proactive and customised solutions for our clients including solar & battery storage, electric vehicle charging and energy efficiency upgrades. We couple an informed and honest approach with quality products, in-house CEC accredited installers and strong industry respected relationships to ensure that we provide our clients with a positive and solutions driven experience. Requirements:
Maintain a current driver’s license and have access to own vehicle.
Have Australian working rights.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 2 years+ of full-time post-qualification experience.Demonstrated experience working on commercial renewable energy, EV charging, or power systems projects is highly regarded.Strong knowledge or familiarity with Australian electrical standards including AS/NZS 3000, 3008, 5033, 5139, and 4777, and network service provider requirementsHands-on experience with engineering and project software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Project, JobTread, Cortex DM, HelioScope, PVsyst, and SolarPlus, including involvement in site inspections, commissioning activities, and compliance documentation.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with good English proficiency.
Responsibilities:
As an electrical engineer your role will drive the project lifecycle including approvals, procurement on customised and unique projects including, but not limited to government buildings, shopping centres, apartment complexes, schools and rural properties.
Duties & Responsibilities, not limited to:
- Design and develop electrical engineering solutions for commercial solar PV and EV charging projects in accordance with Australian Standards.
- Prepare and review electrical designs and documentation including single line diagrams (SLDs), system layouts, cable schedules, load assessments, and protection coordination.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations and feasibility assessments, including AC/DC cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, fault current calculations, inverter capacity checks, earthing design, and protection selection.
- Coordinate and prepare technical submissions for grid connection and approvals, including applications to Western Power, local councils, and structural consultants.
- Provide engineering oversight during installation, commissioning, site inspections, and system handover to ensure technical compliance and performance.
- Provide technical engineering support to internal teams and subcontractors, resolve electrical issues, and maintain engineering integrity throughout project delivery.
- Maintain engineering documentation and support electrical safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all project stages.
- Provide technical/Product guidance with installation, maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor Project progress - updating Commercial spreadsheet.
- Assist with Project Quoting and Budgeting
- Investigate new project, quoting and product opportunities.
- Act as the point of contact and communicate projects status to all participants.
- Working with OH&S to ensure the companies OH&S policies are being followed by field team.
