This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Exercise Physiologist to lead and continue to develop the Centre for STRONG medicine at Concord Repatriation General Hospital for up to 12 months!
About the Role
You will be based at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, which has provided outstanding healthcare for more than 70 years. Building on its proud heritage of caring for the veteran community, the hospital now delivers a broad range of specialist and general health services to the communities of Concord, Strathfield, Burwood and surrounding areas.
The Concord Centre for STRONG Medicine (Strength, Training, Rehabilitation and Outreach Needs in Geriatric Medicine) Exercise Physiologist Coordinator will work with the multidisciplinary team to lead, develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate the new STRONG service at Concord Hospital. The service aims to improve the overall health, function and independence of older adults living with chronic disease and frailty. The position will provide senior clinical leadership within Exercise Physiology, overseeing the delivery of patient-centred care, including individualised assessment, tailored exercise, group education and co-developed management plans, as well as care coordination and clinical support for patients.
The position will provide supervision, support, mentoring and professional development for Exercise Physiology staff and contribute to the development and review of relevant policies, procedures and service improvement initiatives. This includes monitoring and reporting on service performance and activity to support ongoing evaluation and quality improvement. The position will also work closely with the Centre for STRONG Medicine at Balmain Hospital to align models of care and strengthen workforce capability, including opportunities for staff skill development and rotations between Concord Hospital and Balmain Hospital.
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor or post graduate degree in exercise and sports science and current eligibility for full membership of the Exercise and Sports Science Australia professional association.
Demonstrated advanced relevant clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of Exercise Physiology services to aged care patients and patients with a range of chronic diseases.
- Currently holds a valid NSW Driver’s Licence (P1 and P2 licence acceptable)
