Primary objective
As a key member of the MigrationNT team, utilise technical knowledge of migration legislation and policy to provide
leadership and management to the operations arm of the unit. The position is a direct report to the Manager, MigrationNT
and is expected to work collaboratively with all team members and other units of the Department.
Context statement
MigrationNT sits within the Business and Regions division and has carriage of delivery, engagement, and policy development
in respect of skilled migration programs to support the NT Government’s objectives of achieving economic and population
growth.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide leadership, management, support and co-ordination to the migration operations team and function.
2. Assess skilled migration applications within the remit of MigrationNT.
3. Support NT employers, business, industry, and community stakeholders by providing information on migration services
and resolving complex issues in relation to skilled migration applications.
4. Assist in training and upskill of MigrationNT team members.
5. Manage continued development and enhancement of the MigrationNT online application platforms to achieve
operational efficiency and improved user experience.
6. Assist with research and drafting of high-level correspondence, reports and briefings as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of Australia’s migration legislation, policy and skilled migration
programs including experience in preparing and assessing documentation against set parameters and capacity to explain
complex migration matters to a range of stakeholders.
2. Experience and demonstrated success in managing, leading and developing small high performing teams.
3. Experience in managing multiple projects to successful outcomes, within budget and time constraints.
4. Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues to resolution in a
complex environment.
5. Well-developed communication and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
with tight, conflicting deadlines and changing priorities across a broad range of functions.
6. Demonstrated high levels of computer proficiency and an understanding of current business technology.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
2. Hold or have the ability to obtain a Migration Agents registration or legal practising certificate.
