Part-Time Aquarium Shop Sales Assistant

Sydney Aquascapes is looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Part-Time Aquarium Shop Sales Assistant to join our team.
This is a hands-on role that involves customer service, fish care, shop maintenance, and sales. We are looking for someone who has genuine experience keeping fish and can confidently help customers with aquarium-related questions and product recommendations.
Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include everything required to help keep the shop running smoothly, including:
- Selling fish, plants, aquariums, and aquarium products
- Serving customers and providing excellent customer service
- Recommending products and helping customers choose suitable livestock and equipment
- Cleaning fish tanks and maintaining aquarium displays
- General shop cleaning and housekeeping
- Feeding and caring for fish, shrimp, snails, and plants
- Monitoring fish health and reporting issues
- Restocking shelves and displays
- Organising stock and keeping the shop tidy
- Packing online orders and preparing parcels
- Transporting stock and supplies (heavy lifting required)
- Receiving and unpacking deliveries
- Assisting with inventory and stock control
- Creating photos or videos for social media when required
Essential Requirements
- Experience keeping fish and maintaining aquariums
- Good understanding of fish care and aquarium maintenance
- Ability to confidently communicate with customers
- Friendly and positive attitude
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically capable of lifting and moving stock
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Highly Desirable
- Previous aquarium, pet shop, or retail experience
- Knowledge of freshwater fish, shrimp, aquatic plants, and aquascaping
- Understanding of the nitrogen cycle, filtration, water conditioners, and fish health
- Sales or customer service experience
- Experience with Shopify, eBay, or online retail systems
Sales-Focused Position
We are looking for someone who can do more than simply care for fish. The ideal candidate will be comfortable talking to customers, answering questions, recommending products, and helping grow sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge.

We are looking for someone who can work any 3-4 consecutive days a week.
