About Heatley Secondary College:
Welcome to Heatley Secondary College where we value aspiration, inclusion, responsibility, respect and resilience. Unashamedly, we have high expectations of the members of the College.
Our goal is to provide both a sophisticated network of support and the right amount of challenge to engage our students in learning for their future. We encourage pride in self and in being a member of our diverse community.
About the Role:
The People, Culture & Country project provides opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across North Queensland to make connections with their family's culture to land, sea, and sky. Non-Indigenous students are also participants in the project. Students design and create inspirational pieces of wearable art which educates and informs, not only education staff, but the wider non-Indigenous community. The project is a way of linking the oldest traditional art in the world with the rich diversity of contemporary artistic practice in our multicultural society.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a culturally significant project that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and fosters creativity among young people. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, schools, and community stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project activities.
Responsibilities Include:
Assisting schools in facilitating student participation in wearable arts projects.
Supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of exhibitions and events.

Prepare reports and submissions on a range of specific project services and respond to related matters identified during the review process.
Attend meetings with College/Governance Committee officers to discuss, evaluate and review systems and procedures.
Assist in the dissemination of project information to participating schools and members of the public.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, participating schools, industry, business and community partners, working collaboratively to develop and deliver project activities, strengthen partnerships, promote the project and enhance project outcomes.
