As an ASX-listed company, MLG Oz is a contractor of choice, employing more than 1,400 people across over 30 operational sites. We deliver a comprehensive range of services, including:
MLG Oz is guided by strong core values and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We recognise that inclusion drives engagement, builds trust, encourages fresh perspectives, and supports innovation, ultimately enhancing our overall performance. Our people are our greatest asset, and through their collective efforts and contributions, we are able to achieve our objectives while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to the health and safety of our workforce, the environment, and the communities in which we operate.
We’re in the middle of a major workforce management and payroll systems transformation, and we’re looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our Business Improvement team for a 12-month contract.
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply analyse spreadsheets. You’ll be at the heart of our HCM implementation, taking complex payroll and workforce data, cleaning it up, making sense of it and getting it migration-ready.
If you love solving data problems, finding the detail others miss and making messy data clean, accurate and reliable — this could be the role for you.
As our Data Analyst, you’ll take ownership of the data migration and integration workstream, working closely with Payroll, Finance, People, IT and our implementation partner.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring our payroll and workforce data is accurate, validated, reconciled and ready for migration into our new HCM platform.
- Lead the cleansing, validation and reconciliation of payroll, timesheet and workforce data.
- Design and build ETL pipelines to extract, transform and load data from legacy systems, including Pronto Xi and MicroKeeper.
- Use KNIME to support ETL and system integration across the MLG OZ technology landscape.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues, duplicates and inconsistencies across complex, multi-site payroll datasets.
- Work with Payroll, Finance and People teams to validate employee, roster, allowance and EBA data.
- Develop and maintain data mapping, transformation rules and audit documentation.
- Support parallel-run testing, reconciliation and data sign-off.
- Troubleshoot data issues throughout implementation, go-live and hypercare.
- Provide clear reporting on data quality, migration progress, risks and outstanding issues.
We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and get straight into the detail.
- Proven experience delivering data migration and data cleansing projects.
- Strong, hands-on experience working with payroll data.
- A solid understanding of pay elements, allowances, leave balances and employee data.
- Practical experience using an ETL platform.
- Strong SQL and Excel skills, with the ability to interrogate and profile large datasets.
- Experience identifying, investigating and resolving data integrity and quality issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions and meet project deadlines.
- Experience with KNIME — highly preferred.
- Experience with other ETL platforms such as Alteryx, Talend or SSIS.
- Exposure to HCM or payroll system implementations.
- Experience working with awards, EBAs, allowances or complex rostering data.
- Previous experience within mining, resources, FIFO or shift-based environments.
You’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in a business-critical transformation project, working with real operational data and helping shape how MLG OZ manages its workforce and payroll systems into the future.
You’ll be joining a collaborative project environment where your expertise will have a direct and visible impact.
If you're a hands-on Data Analyst who enjoys getting into the detail, solving complex data problems and turning messy information into clean, trusted data — we want to hear from you!
Apply now with your resume and a short cover note outlining your experience in data migration, data cleansing, ETL and, most importantly, payroll data.
