Details: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking a dedicated and conscientious individual to fill the position of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Programs Officer (ASO5) within Offender Reintegration.
The primary objective of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Programs Officer is to provide culturally appropriate support and referral to relevant cultural programs and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander detainees and offenders on community based orders, with respect to the unique cultural perspectives and contemporary experiences both within and outside of the custodial environment.
The successful applicant will support comprehensive case management and reintegration services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander detainees and offenders on community-based orders, providing culturally appropriate support, referrals and access to programs, services and reintegration supports, while assisting senior staff to uphold ACT Corrective Services objectives.
Further to this, the successful applicant will support the development, implementation and facilitation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific programs, cultural events, referral pathways and special initiatives. The role also contributes to strengthening connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and other stakeholders to support positive rehabilitation and reintegration outcomes.
In addition, the successful applicant will maintain accurate records and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with legislative, policy and information management requirements.

- Eligible applicants will be required to undergo a criminal history check and undertake ACTCS Security Awareness training.

This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. A minimum of a class ‘C’ drivers licence is essential.

An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
